On Friday, the Grade 3/4s went on an excursion to Organ Pipes National Park. We were able to see the flora and fauna, as well as the man-made additions.
We saw natural features of the park that we thought were amazing, like the organ pipes (made because of lava!), the Rosette Rock and the Tessellated Path.
We walked a few kilometres on our adventure, saw some kangaroos and had a wonderful time!
Many students said it was the best excursion they had ever been on. Back at school we will be linking our excursion to our Inquiry topic of sustainability and how we can look after our world better.
Running down the hill at the beginning – lots of fun!
The Organ Pipes
Lots of beautiful greenery!
Lots of tagging on the trees – we wondered what they were for?
Monty (our teacher aide) helped us read the information stations located around the park.
Bull ant alert!
We looked at the Tessellated Path and marveled at the rock formation.
Then we crossed on over to the pathway on the other side. We’re going on a nature hunt! We’re going on a nature hunt! What will we find? (I’ll stop singing now…)
Conservation measures at the national park
Walking back up the steep hill – not as fun as running down! Some students volunteered to carry extra bags to lighten the load!
Last Friday, as part of our Inquiry topic on Sustainability, 3/4B learned how to use a compass to navigate around the school.
In pairs, students received a start and end point somewhere in the school. They needed to use their compasses to navigate and write directions.
The students loved getting outside and using a compass for their directions!
We are excited to be starting our grade’s blog.
We will share what we have been learning, photos of activities in class and achievements we are proud of.
Looking forward to sharing our learning journey with you!
