First Aid Training

Yesterday, we were lucky enough to receive first aid training! We learned many important things that we need to do when there’s an emergency.
We learned that if we see an injured person, or someone who looks like they’re sleeping on the floor, we need to:
Stop – don’t rush ahead
Look, listen & smell – is there anything dangerous that might hurt us?
Call out to the person. If they don’t answer we should squeeze their shoulders to see if they answer.
Call 000.
Our preps need to tell the person on the phone that they live in Victoria, tell them if they need police, ambulance or fire brigade & then they can say what has happened.
All of the kids learned some important skills!

Science Incursion!

This term as part of our inquiry unit, we have been learning about how things change.
We all had such a great time taking part in the Science Incursion. We learned about how chemicals are all around us and found out how they can change. We used many chemicals that we could find in our own homes – such as vinegar, water, salt and even stinky cabbage juice!
Being scientists and doing our own experiments has been a big highlight of our term!

Inquiry – identity

Our Inquiry topic for this term is Identity. We’ll be looking at who we are as individuals, how our families shape us and learning new skills.

This week we drew a picture of what we want to be when we grow up. We then had some Grade 5/6 students help write how we can achieve our goal of what we want to be when we grow up.

Here are some aspirations from our class:

Fine motor skills!

We have been improving our fine motor skills in Prep A! We are improving how we can use the muscles in our hands and fingers to do very small and precise activities, such as beading or tracing. This will help us become better writers because we will be able to control our pencils better.

Here’s some fun we had practising these skills!
